On Wednesday we visited the town of Villers-Bretonneux, which included the Franco-Australian Museum. With the inscription at the Victoria School Playground, “Do not forget Australia”, it seemed only fitting for the choir to proudly sing Advance Australia Fair.
It was then off to The Australian National Memorial for an afternoon rehearsal of the pre-dawn service. It is such an amazing place with an incredible feeling of history and remembrance as we honour those for what they did and what they were unable to do having paid the ultimate sacrifice.
It was amazing to see the memorial and the organisation that goes into the commemoration services.
After rehearsal we headed to the Covered Market Hall to perform a concert for the Villers-Bretonneux community. Again, our choir received standing ovations with an encore requested. This time the choir sang Waltzing Matilda with the local school children joining in as they learn it at school. It was a wonderful night!
